HEADSET SELECTION GUIDE

Use this simple guide to choose the best headset for your needs. It's easy as 1-2-3!

Step 1: Choose a headset top.

Are you in a noisy office? If so, then maybe you need a noise canceling mic to reduce background noise. Do you prefer a headband or earpiece? This step will help you make the right choice.

Step 2: Choose an amplifier

Headsets need an amplifier which allows you to connect a headset to your phone system. The amplifier also allows you to control in-coming volume.

Step 3: Choose an optional accessory.

We offer a variety of spares and supplements, such as voice tubes, extension cords, and ear pads.

THE HISTORY OF HEADSETS

hdsthist

Headsets have revolutionized the way people conduct business today. No longer do individuals have to use their telephone handsets for long hours and experience the neck problems or general inefficiency of not having two hands free. So, we at Phone Supplements, thought it would be a great idea to let you know briefly how this piece of equipment you're about to buy developed.

Headsets generally were designed for people whose jobs consisted of telephone intensive tasks, or people whose professions demanded being hands-free. NASA astronauts, and commercial pilots are some examples. We've included pictures of this typical image-telephone operators (circa 1931-1959) wearing heavy head gear devices constructed of thick metal and plastic. Functional? Yes. Comfortable? Not at all! Obviously, these heavy and cumbersome devices could be improved. This was, after all the '50s and '60s- an era of change and immense possibilities. Who can forget the classic t.v. commercials for the latest "high tech" electronics and appliances? Headsets were no exception.

It took some brainstorming by two people to transform hands-free communications for the future. Their names are Courtney Graham- founder of Plantronics, and business partner Keith Larkin.

In 1961, they noticed a Japanese trade magazine flapping in the breeze on the ground. When they glanced down, they found the source that would change telecommunications forever - an ad, believe it or not for transistor radio spectacles! And that's how it began - a dream if you will, to create the first lightweight headset. That was 36 years ago, and since then the headset market has expanded phenomenally. Wireless interfaces, computer/audio/telephony applications, cellular phone headsets, and a desire for superior sound quality have created new challenges to meet the needs of you, our valued customer.

So when you slip on your new headset, you'll know the motivation behind its inception. And hopefully you'll appreciate it everyday.

Enjoy!
